Cassia Twig Pattern

This design is inspired by the Cassia Twig Pattern from the Wenzang Online Museum of Chinese Patterns (纹藏), a cultural archive dedicated to preserving and re-imagining traditional Chinese motifs. It evokes the poetic imagery of “Sweet Osmanthus Fragrance Surrounding the Lake,” with primary hues of West Lake Water Green and Sunset Pink, drawn from the serene natural landscapes of Hangzhou.

Cultural Significance

In classical Chinese symbolism, cassia twigs (gui) represent success in imperial examinations and advancement in official life, as the word gui resonates with the term noble (贵). The tree’s upright form and delicate fragrance embody integrity, grace, and moral refinement.

This pattern reflects the timeless ideal of cultivating virtue and elevating the self—a tribute to noble character and inner elegance, deeply rooted in the cultural philosophy of “Lide Xiushen” (立德修身), or “establishing virtue and refining the self.”
